17 men and three women were arrested this morning

Police in Harlow say they have arrested 20 suspected drug dealers during a series of early morning raids.

Officers executed warrants at 31 properties in the town just after 6am, leading to the arrests of 17 men and three women.

Senior Investigating officer, DCI Paul Maleary said: "This operation is the direct result of reported Class A drug-dealing and associated violence which has taken place during the past few months.

"We, along with the local community safety partnership, are committed to reducing all crime and the arrest phase of the operation is just the first of many initiatives that we will be taking over the forthcoming months to dissolve drug-dealing in and around Harlow."

The raids are part of an intelligence-led operation aimed at "eradicating the source of substance abuse in the town."
