Around 40 firefighters have been tackling a fire in Harwich.

A block of flats on Market Street caught light just after 3pm on Friday (13th April).

Crews from as far as Maldon have had to be called.

The second and third floor were well alight by the time firefighters arrived.

An ambulance also had to be called to help a 30 year old man suffering from shock.

It is not yet known how the fire started.

The officer in charge said that 90% of the roof of the building has collapsed and the remaining floors were unstable.
