A man, believed to be armed with a knife and a gun, has tried to rob a convenience store in South Woodham Ferrers.

Police were called to the shop on Gandalf's Ride at around 2.30pm yesterday (Monday 11 November).

The offender demanded money but left empty-handed after staff refused to open the till.

He was wearing a straight-cut black coat with no belt and fastened up to his neck, a plain black scarf tied around his face and a plain black baseball cap which was wool or soft cloth.
