Southend: Man Stabbed In Face And Neck

A man has been left with serious injuries after he was stabbed in the face and neck in Southend.

Emergency services were called to York Road, at the junction with Hastings Road, just before 9.40pm yesterday (Monday, May 27). 

Officers found a man in his 40s with a stab wound very close to a main artery and he was taken to Southend Hospital for treatment. He has undergone surgery and is now in a stable condition. 

The area was cordened off will officers investigated. 

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Tanya Bailey said: "This man's life was put on line and we could have been looking at a potential murder investigation if it had not been for the quick actions of the paramedics. 

"We are appealing for anyone who may have knowledge of what happened, particularly as it would still have been quite busy at this time of night. 

"Police have conducted extensive enquiries in the area but we still need witnesses to come forward so we can piece together exactly what happened to this man and bring those responsible to justice." 

Police are looking to trace a suspect who is described as being of Turkish appearance, aged about 40, 6ft tall and of medium build.
