An 18 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a stabbing in Brentwood.

Police were called to the junction of Tower Hill and Sir Francis Way on Saturday evening where they found a man who had collapsed in the street.

Efforts were made to revive him but he was pronounced shortly after 8pm.

Officers cordoned off the area while forensic investigations could take place.

Investigators believe the attack may be drugs related. They arrested a teenager in a flat on the High Street at around 5.15pm yesterday.

A post-mortem examination found the victim died from a stab wound to the heart, while he had also had four other stab wounds to his body.

Cordons in the area have now been lifted but an alley on Tower Hill remained closed overnight.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about the murder to contact them on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
