Thurrock: Man Jailed For Three Years For Crash

A van driver has been jailed for three years for causing a crash in Thurrock that left a motorcyclist seriously injured.

22 year-old Jake Radford was arrested the Ford Transit he was driving collided with a motorbike at the junction of Church Road and the A128 just after 8pm on Tuesday, July 24 last year. 

A 30 year-old man from Tilbury, was taken to the Royal London Hospital for treatment. 

He is still at the hospital now, and specialists there expect him to stay for several more months. 

On Friday (May 17), Radford, from Albert Walk in Beckton, pleaded guilty to dangerous drivine, causing Grievous Bodily Harm and fruadulently obtaining car insurance. 

A day later he was sentneced to three years and three months in prison. 

Investigating Officer, Pc Natacha Hasler, said: "Jake Radford has shown no remorse for what he has done and has left Nicky Harris to recover from his terrible injuries. 

"This case once again highlights the consequences of poor driving and the Serious Collision Investigation Unit will relentlessly pursue all those who drive poorly, especially when others are killed or seriously injured." 

Jake Radford was also disqualified from driving for four years and must pass an extending driving test if he wishes to have his licence returned.
