4 December 2013, 10:23

Officers were called to Hemley Road in Orsett after reports of an "incident" inside a property.

One man has died and another has been injured after a shooting in Thurrock.

Essex Police were called to a property on Hemley Road in Orsett, just after 3pm yesterday (Tuesday 3 December).

They found a man, believed to be in his early 60s, dead at the scene and took another man, thought to be in his 40s, to a London hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

A firearm was recovered from the property, which is on a street mostly consisting of detached red-brick houses in the south west of the county.

DI Martin Pasmore, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: "We understand that the two men involved are known to each other. At this stage we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident."
