Two attempted murder investigations have started here after separate incidents in Essex.

A 59-year-old man from Clacton has been arrested and bailed after an off duty police officer was struck by a white Ford Ranger.

It happened on the slip road leading on to the A12 at Chelmsford on Friday 18 November.

The officer suffered a minor knee injury and the car drove off.

Meanwhile, a man's been left with life-threatening injuries in hospital after an incident in Harlow.

A 52-year-old woman has been arrested and bailed while investigations into what happened on Thursday evening continue.

Police want to speak with three young men who are known to have been in the Harlow Bowl earlier that day and who may have seen something as they left.

DCI Mark Hall from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate Major Crime Team, based at Brentwood, said: "I am keen to speak with three young men, who I know from CCTV were in the vicinity at the time, they are not in any trouble, but I believe they may hold important information. I would ask that they and anyone else who witnessed the incident make contact with police.”

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact Essex Police on the 101 number.
