200 Per Year Die of Skin Cancer in Devon

The South West has the worst problem with the condition in the UK - 200 people a year die in Devon alone each year.

Despite it only making up 10% of all cancer cases NHS Devon sees - it causes 80% of cancer-related deaths.

Steven Brown - Assistant Director of Public Health - has been speaking to Heart about why we have such a problem here: "We live in area which does fortunately have an increased number of sunny days, we live near a coastline, the beaches lots of outdoor workers and farmers for example, we have a higher aging population who tend to retire down here - so there is a lot of factors that play into it. Unfortunately there one thing we can put our finger on."
