Police appealing for information about a racially aggravated assault in St Albans have released a CCTV still of men they would like to speak to in connection with it.

It happened at about midnight on the evening of Saturday March 12 to Sunday March 13. A group of man got into a taxi at Batchwood in St Albans and asked to be taken to Edgeware. However, during the journey, they became abusive towards the taxi driver and started racially abusing him.

On Watling Street, in Park Street village, the driver decided to stop the taxi and take them back to St Albans on account of their behaviour. As he did so, they got out, and two of them opened his door before assaulting him. They then made off towards Park Street railway station.

The driver received injuries.

“We would also ask if anyone knows anything about the incident to get in touch.”
