Woman Injured In Attempted Robbery In St Albans

A man has tried to snatch a woman's bag as she was walking in Clarence Park in St Albans

It happened around 7.30pm on Thursday May 29th.

The woman in her 30's was walking in the direction of York Road - the man tried to grab her bag and she fell over leaving her with a cut to her leg.

The man is described as Asian, in his 20's, of slim build and around 5ft 6ins tall. He had short dark hair and was wearing light grey trousers, a white long sleeved shirt with a red tie and a light grey waistcoat.

Detective Constable Neil Pugh is investigating the incident and said: “Thankfully the woman wasn’t seriously injured but was left understandably shaken by what happened. It is believed the offender may have been loitering near the entrance to park, on Hatfield Road, prior to the incident and so I would ask anyone who believes they saw a man matching the stated description prior to or after the incident to contact me straight away. If anyone believes they know the identity of the man or has any other information that may assist the investigation please contact me immediately via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, citing crime reference F1/14/1712
