Man dies from knife injury in Cheltenham

A man has died after being stabbed in Cheltenham.

Police were called to a domestic incident in Mersey Road at around 10.50pm on Saturday night.

Following the incident a search was carried out in the area for a 57-year-old man, who was found in the area of All Saints Road.

Officers treated the man for a serious knife injury before paramedics arrived at the scene but he died a short while later at Cheltenham General Hospital. The coroner has been informed.

As is routine in cases where there is a death following police contact the incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC). Investigators are at the scene conducting an initial assessment.
