Safety work on Cheltenham road

Things will soon be safer for children walking to school in Cheltenham.

Gloucestershire County Council has confirmed plans to start start improvements on a busy stretch in the town, it follows concerns from people in the area about crossing Everest Road and Pilley Lane.

Work on the crossings is scheduled to start April, 19th, with changes including kerb realignment, partial resurfacing of roads and footpaths to improve the quality of pedestrian walkways.

To address the problems of safe crossing, ‘tactile’ crossing points – bumpy surfaces, which are easier for visually impaired people to use - will be laid at areas where there is the most footfall.
