Couple Assaulted in Ashford

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly couple were assaulted in their home in a remote part of Ashford.

Officers found Ann and Gordon Davis badly beaten after being called to the couple's house in Elmstead on bonfire night - Saturday 5 November. The couple said they had been assaulted by three intruders who had somehow got inside the family home unnoticed.

The men were in the house for around 45 minutes, and stole a quantity of cash before running off.

Mr and Mrs Davis were to taken to hospital where they were treated for cuts and severe bruising, both are now recovering at home with family.

Police have released photos of 70 year old Ann's injuries, with the support of her family, to encourage anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Eddie Fox, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime directorate, said: "Firstly I would like to reassure the community that incidents of this nature are extremely rare and that we believe it was pre-planned, not opportunistic.

"This couple or their property was targeted for a reason and we will find out what that reason was.

"The house is in a very remote location so I believe that a vehicle of some sort would have been used. People may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area shortly before or after the incident, or even in the days leading up to it. Someone out there knows who was responsible for this horrific beating and I would urge them to come forward with any information they may have."
