Helicopter Crash Latest

Police have not yet released the name of the pilot from Kent killed in a crash in Camridgeshire.

The man took off from Manston Airport on Friday morning and came down in a field near a business park in the city of Ely. He was dead by the time ambulance crews reached him.

Police say he was the only person on board the helicopter and his next-of-kin have been told.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said emergency services were called to Witchford near Ely by a member of the public just before 11.30am on Friday. The Robinson R22 helicopte was on its way from Manston to Fenland Airfield near Spalding.

Police have told Heart the wreckage will stay in place until air accident investigators have completed their work.
