19 Year Old Questioned Over Peckham Murder

A 19-year-old was being questioned on suspicion of murder today after a teenager's body was found in a burning car.

Samuel Ogunro was shot in the head and his body left in a silver Rover in Jowett Street, Peckham, south-east London, on June 1.

Two or three people returned later that day, at around 10pm, and set light to the car.

Police have already been contacted by two people who saw the victim in the Rover 618, registration number V683 DPN, but thought he was asleep.

They are appealing for anyone who saw the car in the three weeks before the murder, particularly between 8pm on May 31 and 10.15pm the next day.

Officers believe the victim was murdered somewhere else and his body taken to Jowett Street in the Rover. The front of the car was badly damaged and the bumper was hanging off.

After the fire, two or three people wearing jeans and dark clothes were seen running away.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday and is being questioned at a south London police station.

Another teenager, 16, was arrested and bailed to mid-June.
