Man Hit By Car Dies

A 43 year-old man's died after he was hit by a car while trying to cross a road in Croydon.

Police are trying to trace the driver of the dark coloured BMW, which didn't stop.

Officers were called at approx 8.50pm on Sunday 26 October 2014 to reports of a crash involving a car and pedestrian in Wickham Road, near the junction with Spring Park Road, Croydon.

It happened as a dark coloured BMW car was travelling east along Wickham Road.  The man had been crossing the road at a designated crossing point.

The car failed to stop at the scene and police said they were continue to trace it and its driver. Police say the car's front would have been damaged in the crash.

London Ambulance Service and representatives of London's Air Ambulance attended and the man, aged 43, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9.28pm.

Officers said they believed they knew the identity of the deceased.  Enquiries were underway to trace next of kin.
