Scotand Yard recruits external trainers

Scotland Yard has had to bring in external trainers at a cost of more than £600,000 to make sure London has enough officers for the Olympics and the Queens jubilee.

Staff who've just retired have been called back to work with recruits.

Labour claim the move is to meet Boris Johnson's election pledge to increase police numbers to more than 32,000.
