South West Trains have apologised after passengers on 60 trains out of Waterloo were delayed for hours following signaling failures.

The trains were stuck near Woking after problems started just after 6.30pm on Thursday 9 June 2011.

People on two of the trains tried to get off and walk along the tracks.

Network Rail says the problems were down to vandalism and it is working to crackdown on the theft of cabling.
