Tube And Bus Fares To Rise In New Year

Boris Johnson has announced bus and tube fare increases for next year.

They will go up across London by 4.2 per cent from January.

Here are the details...

On the buses: Pay-as-you-go Oyster fare up by 5p. Cash fares up 10p to £2.40.

On the tubes: Single Zone 1 pay as you go Oyster fare up by 10p. Peak time Zone 1 - 6 single up by 20p. Off-Peak Zone 1 - 6 up by 10p.

Cycle hire: Doubles for 24 hours from £1 to £2.

Season tickets: 7 day Zone 1 to 3 will go from £34.20 to £35.60, an increase of 4.1 percent. 7 day Zone 1 to 6 will go from £53.40 to £55.60, an increase of 4.1 percent.

Tranport for London say it is a fare and balanced package, with no big secrets in there.
