Police are investigating after a woman and two young children were found dead at a flat in north west London.

The 33-year-old woman and two boys, one aged five years and the other seven months, were found at 5.20pm on Thursday 9 January 2014 at an address in Kenton in Brent.

The children's deaths are being treated as murder while the woman's death is not being treated as suspicious and detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, Scotland Yard said.

Police said officers were called by London Ambulance Service to the address in Woodgrange Close, to reports of a woman and two children with injuries.

When they arrived, the three were pronounced dead by medical staff. Next of kin are aware, Scotland Yard said.

A post-mortem examination on the woman is due to take place at Northwick Park Mortuary at 3pm today, with further details relating to other post-mortem examinations yet to be announced.

Councillor Reg Colwill, who represents Kenton ward, said: "I think everybody is the same, they are shocked at what's happened. If it's accurate that the woman took her own life she must have been at her wits' end and didn't ask for help, or didn't get the help she asked for. It's two young children, it's very sad."

He said he will ask residents in the road if they want counselling.
