Signs to look for

These are the main signs which NHS MK and BalancED MK say could indicate someone you know has an eating disorder.

Behavioural Symptoms:

  • Social withdrawal - children may decide they don't want to be around their peer group, particularly around meal times
  • Discarding lunches
  • Avoiding meals
  • Changes in eating behaviour
  • Changes in everyday behaviour
  • Depression

Physical Symptoms:

  • Weight loss - this may be hard to spot if you are around the person every day
  • Dizzyness
  • Loss of vision
  • Fainting
