Rogue Trader Crackdown

Trading Standards, the Police and Vosa were among the agencies taking part in the operation - to try and find Rogue Traders at work in the new city

It's part of an operation across the country - and Trading Standards say Rogue Traders travel wide areas looking for their victims.  Today's crackdown used ANPR technology to check number plates - matching them against a database of suspect vehicles.  Other vans were pulled in for random spot checks.

VOSA checked that the vehicles were roadworthy - looking at things like tyres and lights; police officers checked the vehicles against their databases - to make sure they weren't stolen and that they were insured and MOT'd; and Trading Standards officers checked that the drivers had the right paperwork and permits for the work that they were doing.
