Buzz Lightyear is expected to be this year's must-have Christmas presents, a retailer has predicted.

The figurines from the blockbuster films are tipped to be the best-selling toys in December, Woolworths.co.uk claimed.

The My Stroll and Play Walker and the Ladybird Seven-in-One doll set will also be a common sight under the Christmas tree, the retailer said.

The toys sell for between £36 and £40.

Other toys tipped to be top-sellers include the £110 Sylvanian Families Regency Hotel, Lego City Fire Station at £60 and the £40 Scalextric Micro Maximum Mayhem.

The relatively inexpensive £10 Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters, previously known as Go Go Hamsters, return to the list after demand led to them selling out last year.

Woolworths.co.uk spokesman Matthew Hardcastle said: "With the return of Toy Story this summer, the Jetpack Buzz Lightyear is this year's hottest prediction.

"We are advising parents to shop early, especially if their child is expecting the Jetpack Buzz Lightyear.

"Although we aim to meet the high demand, the popularity of this particular toy may mean that we see it fly off the shelves with the same excitement as the Go Go Hamsters last Christmas."

A VTech children's digital camera and the Baby Annabel, advertised as "just like a real baby" with the ability to burp, also make the Woolworths top 10 list.
