An 18-year-old man from Cardiff has been charged with the murder of a father-of-seven.

Colin Richards, 48, died in the Ely area of the Welsh capital on Sunday 7 April.

He was found unconscious in Snowdon Road after a report of a disturbance in the Heol-Y-Berllan and Heol Trelai area of Caerau shortly before 11.30pm.

South Wales Police say Mr Richards died from a stab wound, despite the best efforts of emergency services.

Corey Gauci, 18, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Tuesday morning charged with his murder.

A second man, 26, was previously arrested on suspicion of murder but has since been released on bail.

He was, however, recalled to prison for breaching his licence conditions.

Police say Mr Richards's family have been updated and are receiving support from specially-trained family liaison officers.
