Man Jailed For Threatening Police

A man who approached an officer with a knife in his hand has been sent to jail.

39-year-old Clifford Hunt from Westfield Avenue was given the sentence after appearing at Norwich Magistrates Court.

On Monday 18th April officers responded to reports of an argument at an address along Heydon Road in Corputsy in Norfolk.

When officers attended Hunt approached the officers with a kitchen knife in his hand and threw boiling water in their direction.

At court on Thursday 5th May he pleaded guilty to having a 10" bladed kitchen knife in a public place and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause that person to believe immediate unlawful violence would be used.

He was handed a 16 weeks prison sentence and the knife was forfeited for destruction.
