Serious Sexual Assault In Suffolk

Police are investigating after reports of a serious sexual assault from a 25-year-old woman on the morning of Saturday 16th October.

She had been out in Sudbury town centre earlier on Friday night and had spoken to two men in a pub. Later on, at around 3am she was walking along Cornard Road when one of the men offered her a lift in a silver Peugeot. She got in, and was driven into a nearby car park where he sexually assaulted her. The woman was then able to get out of the car and run off. The car park was cordoned off on Saturday morning for forensic examination.

The male offender is described as black, in his 20s, between 5 foot 6 and 5 foot 8 inches tall, with short black hair and was wearing blue jeans, a purple top and white trainers, and spoke with a Jamaican accent.

The man the offender was with in the pub who was not present in the car is described as black, in his 20s, over 6 foot tall and was wearing dark coloured jeans, a dark t-shirt and a black leather jacket, and was smoking. Police want to speak to him and anyone else who was in the town centre during Friday evening and early Saturday morning and may have information which could assist the investigation.

Anyone with information is being asked to call DS Stuart Jeans at West Suffolk CID on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
