After months of fundraising the family of 5 year old Grace Windram have raised £50,000 for surgery in America.

Grace, from Northampton, has Cerebral Palsy and has to use a wheel chair or crawl to get around.

She is not eligible for the surgery in the UK that will help her to walk so her family have been trying to raise £50,000 for the treatment in America.

They have received lots of help raising the money, one company were so touched by Graces story they created an i phone app that raised £21,000 towards the target.

Now the money has been raised the flights and surgery are booked and the Windram family are getting ready to go to the US in January.

Graces mum Helen says she is still in shock that they have raised the money so quickly and that it has not quite sunk in yet that they are going next month.

"I would be lying if I said it had not been a stressful few months but then I am also absolutely astonished and we are so grateful for peoples generosity"

She says her daughter does not quite understand yet:

"I do not know she understands the reality of it quite yet but she knows it will help her to be able to walk and do more than she can at the moment which is an exciting concept for a five year old"

Helen told Heart that this surgery is just part of the process and that the aftercare Grace receives is just as important.
