Man Charged Over Willington Murder
A 22 year old man has been charged with murdering a man in Willington
It's after the discovery of a body in a field in Willington near Crook in the early hours of Friday morning.
Officers have named the victim as 42-year-old Michael Outhwaite, from the Sunderland area.
A post mortem examination which was carried out late yesterday evening has revealed that Mr Outhwaite died as a result of stab wounds.
The 22-year-old charged with murder is due to appear before Peterlee Magistrates Court on Monday.

A 22 year old man is being questioned by Police in Peterlee on suspicion of murder, after a body was found in Willington near Crook.
The 42 year old man was found dead in a field near Willington High Street around 1am this morning.
The high street area of Willington has been cordoned off to allow for a forensic examination - and officers are carrying out house to house enquiries in the area.
Detective Superintendent Kevin Weir has told Heart:
“I can confirm we have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a man’s body in the early hours of this morning.
We do believe this is an isolated incident and we currently have a suspect in custody.
Over the coming hours there will be much police activity in Willington.
I would ask for the patience of residents in that area while the scene preservation remains in place”
