Bike Some Noise North & Mid Wales

On Thursday 9th October, as part of an amazing day of fundraising, 22 'Local Champions' from across the UK will take part in Bike Some Noise.

Bike Some Noise will see our Local Champions cycle the equivalent distance from Land's End to John O'Groats (that's 874 miles) on 'static' cycles, all in aid of helping to raise money for disadvantaged children and young people across the UK and here in North and Mid Wales.

The bikes will be set-up at Heart Headquarters in central London where they will be connected to an electrical generator and every hour a record powered by the bikes will be played live on air!

Representing Heart for North and Mid Wales for this challenge is Glenn Edwards, a Fundraising Officer for Advanced Brighter Futures in Wrexham, one of the beneficiaries of this year's Make Some Noise Appeal.

So that you can get to know your Local Champion a little bit more, we asked Glenn some questions..

Which Heart presenter do you love most and why?
Spence and Fiona were great to work with and very entertaining on their breakfast show!

How did you become involved with Advanced Brighter Futures?
Before taking up employment with Advanced Brighter Futures, I volunteered on their award-winning group activities project and had the privilege of seeing first-hand how its services improve people's lives and well-being. People sometimes need a helping hand through life's ups and downs as well as a safe and secure place to find peace with themselves and personally develop- Advance Brighter Futures ticks all the boxes. I'm now much more of an optimist than I used to be- things really can get better for people and that insight continues to be my guiding principle. Funds raised through this scheme can make it happen so please be generous and donate to what is a truly neglected yet wonderful cause.
The charity helps hundreds of people with mental health needs and supports the well-being of the population of Wrexham.

What’s the most random act of kindness you’ve ever received or given?
A teacher in my sixth form college took me to one side after her English class and asked me if I'd ever considered applying to Oxbridge. I lacked confidence and self-belief but she strongly encouraged me to apply and I've now graduated from Pembroke College, Cambridge with a 2.1 in Politics- I never thought I could do it and I owe it all to that one act of kindness

How far do you think you’ll get on the Bike?
Hopefully the 50 mile target of course!

What are you most looking forward to about the Global’s Make Some Noise Day?
Raising awareness for the charity- that's my mission.
