What's your job title?  Area Fundraiser for Claire House Children’s Hospice, Mereyside and Cheshire

Which charity are you representing and how did you come to be involved with them? I am representing Claire House Children’s Hospice. I originally started off as a volunteer working the fundraising office during a university placement. Anyone who knew me at the time, would know that I was set on working in events after leaving uni, however I loved working at Claire House so much so that as soon as a job came up at Claire House I knew that I wanted to work there as a full-time permanent employee. Luckily that’s what I’m doing now!

Tell us about some of the work that Claire House does? Why should people donate to Global's Make Some Noise and help them? Claire House Children’s Hospice is an amazing organisation that provides support, choice and specialist care for families whose children won’t live to be adults.

People should donate to Global's Make Some Noise and help Claire House as we help everyday families achieve special moments together. As you can imagine being told that you will outlive your child is the one of the toughest challenges that anyone could face, Claire House goes along this journey with children and families and offers them everything they need along the way. We help mums to have beautiful moments with their child; we help dads kick a football around with their son – these are things that they couldn’t do at home or in a hospital – however with our specialist care team we make sure they can.

I work as a fundraiser at the hospice and get to see first-hand the amazing work that our care team provides for our families. It is these moments that will create memories that will last beyond a lifetime.  Our nurses work hard to make sure that our families spend as much quality time together as possible and make every moment that they have together count.

What’s the most random act of kindness you’ve ever received or given? I recently worked with two young girls who had been inspired by the work that Claire House does (and Jessie J!) that they decided to shave off all their hair! One of the girls Amber was just 10 years old and had beautiful waist length hair that is now all gone! She decided to undertake such a brave challenge in memory of her friend Ellie who had used the hospice and been looked after by our wonderful nurses in the later stages of her life. It was such a courageous thing for anyone do (us ladies can be very attached to our locks!) and Amber managed to smash her £500 target and raise £4,400 for us! Both girls were just superstars!

What’s the longest distance you’ve ever cycled before? Erm… to the shop for milk when I was a kid?! I guess we’ll find out! It will probably be this challenge. I should be ok, I did Tough Mudder a few weeks ago and survived!

What are you most looking forward to about the Global’s Make Some Noise Day? Getting to meet everyone from Global and spending the day support amazing charities – especially Claire House Children’s Hospice. Hopefully lots of money and awareness will be raised for everyone!
