Peterborough: Fatal Stabbing - Man Charged

A man's appeared in court charged in connection with the murder of Kevin Lee from Peterborough.

Leslie Layton, 36, of Bifield, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, has been charged with perverting the course of justice.

He appeared at Peterborough Magistrates' Court this morning (Wednesday 3rd April). He's been remanded in custody to appear before Peterborough Crown Court on 10th April.

The body of Mr Lee, 48, from Fletton, Peterborough, (pictured right) was discovered in a ditch in Newborough on Saturday morning (March 30th).

He had last been seen at 2pm on Good Friday and was reported missing at 10.40pm that day.

His metallic, light blue Mondeo estate registration number Y32 OJB had been discovered burnt out near a farm in Yaxley at about 9pm the same day.

A 47-year-old man and 30-year-old woman arrested yesterday in connection with the murder remain in custody.

A 32-year-old man and a 23-year-old man also arrested in connection with the murder over the weekend have been released on bail.

The family of Kevin Lee has released a statement,

"We are devastated by Kevin's death, he was a wonderful husband, father, loving brother and son. His naturally infectious personality touched everyone who knew him. He will be hugely missed by all his friends and family. We are struggling to come to terms with our tragic loss and we ask that we are left alone to grieve in private."
