A man has been charged with murder and rape after the body of a woman was discovered in a hotel in Wisbech.

Emergency services were called to reports of a sudden death at the Hare and Hounds in North Brink, Wisbech, at around 11:45am on Saturday.

Officers then found the body of 49 Virginja Jurkiene from Oakroyd Crescent, Wisbech, in the hotel.

48 year old Dainotas Doblys, of no fixed abode, has since been charged with murder and two counts of rape.

He has been remanded in custody after appearing at King's Lynn Magistrates' Court today (Monday), and is due to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on Wednesday.

Cambridgeshire Police say the incident is not linked to the recent murder of 86 year old Una Crown in Wisbech.
