Plymouth Marines Safe And Well

Families, friends and well wishers gathered on Plymouth Hoe on Friday to welcome 29 Commando Royal Artillary back from a six month tour of Afghanistan.

The ground troops have been operating a traditional Fire Support role in the Helmand province, a vital and often lifesaving job in support of soldiers and marines.

Working in temperatures of more than 50 degrees celsius the gunners have been working to help the Afghan National Army to develop their patrolling, casualty handling and searching skills using

29 Commando arrived after a 48 hour trip back into the arms of their loved-ones hoping that this will be their last tour in the war torn country.
