Craft Beer Brewery Opens To Public

A craft beer brewery is to open to the public in a recently-renovated former box factory.

Drygate Brewing Company, in Glasgow's east end, will offer visitors the chance to watch the brewery in action from its bar and restaurant through a panoramic glass wall.

Craft beer is usually brewed by small breweries using traditional methods.

From next month, craft beer novices to experts will be able to experiment on the Drygate studio kit and create their own brew.

Bosses said up to 600 types of beer sourced from around the world would be available to buy at a bottle shop and online and it is hoped that up to a million litres of craft beer will be produced by Drygate in its first year.

Drygate is a joint venture between the C&C Group - producer of Tennent's lager - and craft brewers Williams Bros Brewing Co.

For all visitors, a range of beer with label artwork designed by Glasgow School of Art alumni will be available at the bar.

Ed Evans of Drygate said: "When we say that Drygate is about a journey from the everyday to the exceptional, we mean it's about opening doors to the craft beer experience and giving people the chance to get hands on in a brewery for the very first time.

"It's an amazing place, whether you're here to brew your own beer, or simply coming in for a pint with friends.''

The bar and restaurant will open to the public on Friday, with the first brew starting next Monday. The studio kit for brewing your own beer will be available to book from the end of June.
