Scotland's deficit fell to £13.3 billion for 2016/17 amid an increase in oil and gas revenues, according to new figures.
East Lothian Murder Inquiry
Police have launched a murder inquiry after the body of a man was found at a house.
Colin Armstrong, 49, was found dead at a property in the Macmerry area of East Lothian this morning.
Officers are treating the incident as murder and are keen to speak to anyone who was in the Greenmill Brae area of the village in the early hours.
Detective Inspector Grant Johnston, from Police Scotland's major investigation team, said: ''I am appealing for anyone who was in this part of Macmerry this morning and has any information about this incident to contact Police Scotland immediately.
''I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw a car, possibly a Honda Civic or similar, in the Macmerry or Tranent areas of East Lothian any time overnight.''
A man has been arrested after a teenager was allegedly seriously sexually assaulted in a vehicle which she got into thinking it was a taxi.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Renton Road in Dumbarton following the crash which happened at about 8.40am.
The NSPCC helpline in Scotland made 905 referrals to the police and social services in 2016/17.
