Chard Schoolchildren Stop Speeding Drivers

Nearly 100 primary schoolchildren from Chard have been protesting in the town after concerns were raised about cars travelling too fast past the school.

The kids from Chard School continuously walked across the nearby crossing on Fore Street this morning in an attempt to make drivers stop and think about their speed.

They're also using the protest to take part in a World Record Attempt to get the most school children walking at the same time across Britain.

Headmaster John Stotesbury told Heart "We want a 20 mile per hour limit outside the school but the council are refusing. We often get cars going more than 30, breaking the limit. There's also no signs showing there's a school even in the vicinity"
