Weston-super-Mare: Man Charged With Murder

A man has pleaded guilty to the murder of Mark Roberts in Weston-super-Mare.

Ryan Sheppard has pleaded guilty to the 35 year old's murder and will be sentenced at a later date. 

Mark Roberts died in hospital on Sunday October 2013, a day after being assaulted as he walked home. 

Today Ryan Sheppard, 18, appeared at Bristol Crown Court and pleaded guilty to the murder of Mr Roberts.

Speaking outside court, Detective Inspector Lorna Dallimore said: 

'I am pleased that today Ryan Sheppard has admitted his role in the murder of Mr Roberts and hope the guilty plea brings some comfort to his family.' 

A 15-year-old girl has also been charged with Mr Roberts’ murder and is due to stand trial later in the year.
