Tributes Left To Biker Who Died Near Fareham

Police are still appealing for witnesses following a crash on Hunts Pond Road, Locks Heath in which 20-year-old motorcyclist Marcus Lowbridge died.

Mr Lowbridge, from Ilex Crescent, Locks Heath was travelling northbound on his black Suzuki GSX-R 600 at 8.20pm on Saturday March the 10th when he was in collision with a blue Nissan Micra.

He sustained life threatening injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 10pm.

The driver of the Micra, a 56-year-old woman from Locks Heath, was uninjured. She was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has been bailed until May 20, pending further enquiries.

Many floral tributes and messages have been left at the scene of the crash, and friends and relatives have also been gathering at the junction.

It's emerged that more than 200 people had signed a petition calling for better safety measures at the junction before the fatal crash happened.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw either vehicle just prior to it, to call PC Rob Giles at Fratton Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting Operation Katrina.
