CCTV Released Of Cigarette Raid
Police are appealing for information after thousands of pounds worth of cigarettes were stolen during a burglary in Locks Heath near Fareham.
At around 2.15am on Friday, March 2nd, three men went to the Co-op in the Locks Heath Centre near Fareham, in a silver coloured estate vehicle. They parked outside the main front entrance.
They then got out of the vehicle and initially attempted to jemmy the sliding front doors apart. However, having failed to do this, they smashed a lower glass panel in the door and climbed through the hole, into the shop.
All three men entered the store and went directly to the cigarette kiosk. They broke the shutters and bundled all the cigarette stock into a large builder's bag that they had brought with them.
The men are described as:
Man one: Wearing a light grey hooded top, dark bomber coat / jacket, dark trousers and carrying a large bag
Man two: Wearing a black hooded top / jacket with red toggles, a red bandana, and dark trousers with white stripes down the sides
Man three: Wearing a khaki / blue-grey jacket, dark trousers, and a white bandana
DC Katie Wakefield, said:
"These three males broke into the Co-op and stole thousands of pounds worth of cigerattes.
"They then made off in a silver coloured estate vehicle.
"I am appealing to any local residents who saw or heard a vehicle speeding from the area. I am also appealing for anyone who may have seen anyone in the area, matching the descriptions of the offenders.
"It is believed that the offenders were also seen acting suspiciously around the Park Gate Co-op at about 4am on February 28.
"They were spooked by the manager who was in the building doing some work.
"I am appealing for anyone who may have any information relating to this incident in February to get in touch with us.”
Anyone with any information should contact DC Wakefield at Fareham CID on 101, or call Crimestoppers, the charity, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
