Dog Walker Beaten With Stick

Police have released a picture of a suspect after a 50-year-old Southampton man was attacked with a walking stick as he exercised his dogs in Five Acres Field in Redbridge Lane, Lordshill.

Officers hope someone will recognise him or the man will come forward himself.

The victim got into a dispute with another dog owner who was doing the same at just after 11.10am on Sunday, June 26.  The man came up to him and hit him around the face and upper body with his walking stick. He hit him so hard the stick

It left him with facial injuries including broken teeth.

The field was also being used by a group of runners for a fun run and races. There were also other dog walkers in the field at the time so there were lots of people around who are likely to have seen all or some of what happened.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who did witnesses the attack or the lead up to it or thinks they know who is responsible to contact them. They are also releasing the picture of the man thought to have been involved taken by a member
of the public.

The attacker is described as: White, 50-years-old around 5ft 8 inches tall of heavy build and stocky. He had a very short beard and was wearing a flat hat and a stripy top. The stick was a metal, fold up walking stick that snaps together
which had a rubber end to it.
