Fire At Tyre Warehouse 'Suspicious'

An investigation's underway after a big fire at a tyre warehouse near Chichester.

Two members of public witnessed the fire at the Care Tyre Clinic on the B2201 at Sidlesham Common just after midnight on Tuesday 7th May and called the fire service.

Firefighters from Chichester initially responded, to find flames had just started coming through the roof.  Further appliances from Selsey, Bognor Regis, East Wittering and Worthing were soon on the scene to assist due to the ferocity of the fire. 

At its height 35 firefighters were on scene fighting the fire. 

The fire is now out and relief crews are damping down - Selsey Road has also reopened between Green Lane and B2145.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue say the fire is being treated as suspicious and police have been called in.
