Investigation Into Crash Death

Police are now in a position to name the driver who died following a single-vehicle collision in Fair Oak on Sunday July 1st.

Wayne Danaher, 48, from West End, Southampton was driving a grey Ford Mondeo along Mortimer’s Lane at around 12.45pm when, for reasons yet to be established, he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a wall.

Despite the efforts of paramedics at the scene and in the air ambulance, Mr Danaher died shortly after reaching Southampton general Hospital.

Paying tribute to her husband, Kerry Danaher said: “On Sunday my whole world fell apart, when my best friend and loving husband Wayne passed away.

“Wayne was the centre of his family's life; a wonderful, husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

“He was a passionate man, who loved his job at Ford, fishing with his dad, but most of all his family and friends.

“We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the people who were there with him, the Dutch couple, fireman, paramedics and air ambulance we know you did your best for him.

“Our world will never be the same. We will love and miss him always.”

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw the vehicle just prior to it, to call PC Emma Clifford at Totton Roads Policing Unit on 101 quoting Operation Sampford.
