Police Hunt For Bank Robbery Getaway Car

Police investigating the robbery that happened at the Nationwide bank in Park Parade, Havant on Friday, November 25 are releasing more information about the incident, specifically about the vehicle used in the robbery.

Two men with balaclavas broke into the bank, assaulted the two G4S couriers who were emptying the cash machine, and took cassettes containing a substantial sum of money.

They left the scene in a small dark coloured car, possibly a VW Golf, which had been waiting nearby.

The vehicle is believed to have driven off along Sombourne Drive, turned into Stockheath Road and then turned left into Petersfield Road.
Detective Sergeant Ross Toms said: "We are very interested in the movements of the dark coloured Volkswagen Golf before and after the robbery. We believe that the occupants of the vehicle wouldhave switched number plates in the vicinity of Park Parade and adjourning roads prior to committing the offence. We are therefore seeking the assistance of any witnesses who saw anyone tampering of vehicles within this area before the time of the robbery onFriday, November 25.

"We are also seeking to identify the vehicle's direction of travel after the offence. It was last seen travelling at speed on the Petersfield Road towards the A3.

"If you saw a car of this description speeding, or driving in any way out of the ordinary, please get in touch as soon as possible."

Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact Waterlooville CID on 101 or alternatively phone the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
