Portsmouth Uni Student Found Dead At Halls

A University of Portsmouth student has been found dead in his room in his halls of residence.

Tyler Duchar-Clark was a first-year student at the university.

Hampshire Police were called to James Watson Halls in White Swan Road at 6.06pm on Sunday 2 February, after security guards found a man's body.

They say the 19-year-old's death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner. Hi family has been informed.

In a statement, the University's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Graham Galbraith, said:

"The University community was shocked last night to learn that one of our students, Tyler Duchar-Clark, had died in his room in James Watson Hall of Residence.

"Tyler, age 19, was in his first year of a BA Hons degree in Television and Film Production and was progressing well with his studies. His tutor said he was a bright, proactive student who was doing well academically.

"All students in halls of residence have been contacted personally and offered support and counselling by the University.

"We send our sincere condolences to Tyler's family and friends who have the full support of the University at this very difficult time."
