Southampton Murder Investigation After Woman Found Dead

Police in Southampton have started a murder investigation after the death of a 31-year-old woman.

Officers were called to an address in Nichols Road in St Marys just before 8pm on Saturday 2 November, by the ambulance service.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem examination conducted on Sunday 3 November proved inconclusive and officers await the result of toxicology tests.

A 61-year-old man from Southampton who was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death on Saturday night has been released on bail until February, pending further inquiries.

A family liaison officer is supporting the family of the deceased woman today.
