Staff Attacked At Southampton Supermarket

Police in Southampton are appealing to the public for help in identifying a man they want to speak to about an attack on Asda staff.

It follows three members of staff being assaulted at Asda in Portland Terrace, in the city centre on June 3.
It happened at around 5.15pm when a man was at the checkouts in the store. He became verbally and racially abusive to staff and then hit one of them on the arm. He also spat in the face of one staff member.
Police were called but the man ran off.
He is described as:
Late 20s to early 30s
6 ft tall
Bald and clean shaven
Broad shoulders with a proportionate build
Wearing light blue jeans with a red and white pattern from the back pocket down the leg; a white shirt with red and blue checks
PC Chris Galpin who is investigating said: “This was an unprovoked nasty assault on two members of staff who were just carrying out their normal duties as sales assistantswithin the store.

“The CCTV image of the suspect is extremely good and I would appeal to anyone who may recognise him, to get in contact with me at Southampton Central police station or call Crimestoppers anonymously.”
