Man Attacked Outside Portsmouth Pub

A man's been taken to hospital with a serious head injury, after being attacked in Portsmouth.

The 27-year-old from Waterlooville was approached by a man he did not know outside The Victory pub opposite The Hard interchange.

Initial enquiries have established the victim was hit more than once in the face until he fell unconscious to the floor.

He was taken to hospital to receive medical attention for a head injury, which is serious but not life-threatening.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Amanda Waite said:

"This was an unprovoked and vicious assault. There were quite a few people around at the time so we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack or who may know the offender."

The assault happened between 3.40am and 3.50am on Sunday 6 October.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact CID at Fratton Police Station by phoning 101. The Mini-com number, which is used by deaf and hard of hearing callers, has changed to Minicom TextRelay 18001 101. Alternatively, call the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
