Woman Appeals Murder Conviction
A woman jailed for life for the murder of Jamie Dack in Southampton is appealing her conviction.
22-year-old Donna Chalk was one of four people sent to prison for killing homeless 22-year-old Jamie in Bevois Mews, and leaving his body in a burning bin on an industrial estate. She was sentenced to 25 years behind bars, and is also appealing against the length of her sentence.
27-year-old Andrew Dwyer-Skeats and Ryan Woodmansey, 32, were also convicted at Winchester Crown Court on Friday 21 June of Jamie's murder, on 6 April 2012. Lee Nicholls, 28, had already pleaded guilty.
Nicholls was given 34 years, Woodmansey got 30 years and Dwyer-Skeats was given 32 years.
Outside court, Jamie's family said they were 'very pleased' with the sentences handed out by the judge.
Last year, all four pleaded guilty to perverting the course of public justice, an offence which related to their efforts to destroy all incriminating evidence from the scene of the crime and, in particular, the disposal of Jamie Dack’s body. It was found in a burning bin on the Empress Road Industrial Estate, when firefighters were called out in the early hours of 8 April 2012.
Lanes will be added on Junction 9 slip roads, the Parkway South roundabout and Whiteley Way approach.
In a UK first, Hampshire firefighters are teaming up with police in a six-month trial.
29-year-old Ryan Merna died from multiple injuries, at a flat on Wessex Road.
