Woman Injured After Getting Trapped In Car Door

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman was trapped between the driver’s side door and the door frame of her car following a collision in Sway on Tuesday.

The 92-year-old woman was attempting to get into her silver Honda Jazz, which was parked outside Sway Newsagents on Station Road when the incident, involving a black Audi A3, occurred shortly after 4pm.
The injured woman suffered lacerations to her arm and face. She was taken to Southampton General Hospital where she was treated then released. She's now recovering at home.
The driver of the Audi, a 27-year-old London man, was uninjured. He was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving without due care and attention and bailed until November.
Anyone with any information about the collision is asked to call PC Antony Clifford at Totton Road Policing Team on 101, quoting Operation Rectangle.
Alternatively call the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
